No, it is not a remake of Final Fantasy I. It also is not a direct port of Brave Exvius. Square Enix’s line, carried by the dossier, is that the game was rebuilt. Heroes from across the series appear as Visions, which is why the remake rumor sticks.
The Warrior of Light Vision is the piece that confuses people. He is one of 26 equipped heroes, not proof that this is the first game rebuilt.
What it actually adapts
The story root is the Lapis arc from 2015. Rain, Lasswell, and Fina are the leads. The towns and the esper names will feel familiar if you played the phone game.

Is Final Fantasy I playable inside it?
No separate campaign is announced. The first game’s hero is a Vision.
